"ARP saved my life. Simple as that. When I gave up on myself, ARP was there every second of the way to push me to be the best and drag me out of the deep hole I was in. There are so many great things I could say, so it’s gonna be hard to condense everything. The staff is wonderful."

"I got to ARP in October of 2021 And they were all very welcoming and real. That was the first thing that made it easy to adapt into this new environment. The apartments were extremely nice and the girl community there was solid. During my stay at ARP I was able to work on me mentally, physically, and eventually spiritually. The counselors there are all great."

Inpatient vs. Outpatient Treatment

Choosing between inpatient and outpatient substance abuse programs can be a difficult decision. Both offer different benefits and you should understand what each option can give you before committing to a program.

An inpatient residential treatment program requires you to live on the facility grounds for the entire duration of your treatment program. This form of treatment is the most intensive and best for people who have severe substance abuse or co-occurring condition. They typically last 30-60 days and offer 24 hour supervision, residential housing, and strict schedules. Inpatient programs work with clients on every aspect of their lives within this hospital setting, which means everything from treatment to social hours will be structured and supervised. Inpatient programs are very effective at treating addiction, but require you to leave your family, job, and other responsibilities for the duration of your treatment. While this works for some, others require a more flexible treatment option.

Unlike inpatient programs, intensive outpatient programs are structured so that you come to the facility for treatment at designated times, certain days a week and return home at the end of the day. Choosing an outpatient program allows you to keep your family and professional life intact while still working through the recovery process. Our outpatient drug rehab in Atlanta, GA are flexible in that you can work your treatment hours around your personal schedule so that you don’t need to sacrifice other aspects of your life in order to get sober. Outpatient programs offer a lot of the same treatments and services as an inpatient program would. Some of these services include:

Working with licensed professionals, clients will have one on one therapy sessions that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and traditional talk therapy.
Group therapy sessions will be offered during treatment hours where clients can talk with others who are experiencing similar journeys. This offers the opportunity to build community, see new perspectives, and support other like minded individuals.
Alternative or supportive therapies vary but often include art therapy, meditation, acupuncture, movement and exercise. Learning healthy lifestyle skills and methods of coping is a crucial part of rehab and can be learned through many different techniques.
The major difference with an outpatient program is the aspect of independence. While it’s not for everyone, people who want to overcome their addiction without completely stopping their life can benefit from the partial time commitment of an intensive outpatient program in Atlanta.

Understanding Your Outpatient Options

Choosing an Intensive Outpatient Program in Atlanta, Georgia

If you’ve reached the decision to enroll in an intensive outpatient program, there are some things to take into consideration when choosing which IOP in Atlanta is best for you. The location of a program is important to make sure your regular commute is something you can commit too.

It’s also important to make sure that the program itself offers a variety of different treatments aimed at treating different types of addiction, behavioral issues, and co -occurring mental health conditions. When looking for an IOP program in Atlanta, you should look for a program that includes a combination of traditional counseling, group sessions, and alternative therapies.

It’s crucial to make sure that the staff and caretakers at your IOP program are licensed and experienced with handling complex substance abuse conditions. Working with unlicensed professionals could be a huge set back when you are trying to move forward. Additionally, making sure the schedules and hours offered is important to make sure it aligns with your personal life. While IOP programs are meant to offer flexibility and independence, there is still a huge level of commitment that needs to be met. Dedication to your treatment and time spent within the facility is the only way to fully get the most out of an outpatient program. If you don’t fully engage in the program, your recovery may be compromised.
